Specialty Printing Label Materials

Specialty Printing uses a variety of durable label materials that all offer exceptional stability under many conditions.

Our labels are tear, puncture and water resistant, pressure sensitive or static cling, and will easily tolerate extremes in temperatures and harsh conditions.

Our aluminum labels are made of a malleable aluminum material and are typically used for nameplates and serial labels. A long lasting label solution, these labels and nameplates can withstand years of UV exposure and harsh weather conditions. Typical applications include warning signs, machinery identification, department designations, instructional signage and more.

Lexan™ labels are most commonly used for:

    Control panels

    Instrument facings and overlay

    Nameplates

    Prototype labels

Our Lexan™ labels can be custom created in any exterior shape; and we can apply any internal holes and other shaped cut-outs, as well as clear areas for indicator lights. Additionally, we can customize the labels with any necessary information, printed in our full range of ink colors.

Lexan™ Polycarbonate (manufactured by GE) allows for sub-surface printing, so no oxygen is able to get to the ink, absolutely no fading will ever occur. Sub-surface printed Lexan™ labels provide permanent protection to the graphics, they are chemical and abrasion resistant and UV impervious.

Poly and Vinyl are the most commonly used materials for labels. Vinyl, otherwise known as polyvinyl chloride, or PVC, is a thermoplastic material, and so it can be reprocessed using heat. In respects to what we provide at Specialty Printing, we use a semi-flexible vinyl film coated with a permanent pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive and backed with a two-sided polycoated layflat release liner for use over sheets.

We also provide decals and labels made from Mylar (a registered trademark owned by Dupont Tejjin Films), that is essentially a generic term for polyester film or plastic sheet.

There are numerous applications using Poly, Vinyl and Mylar – if you are not certain of your exact needs, Specialty Printing will work with you to determine the best label solution for you.

Reflective labels are typically used for the construction and automotive industries, because they are shiny, attention grabbing and can be seen in darker conditions. Often times, reflective decals are used to indicate safety or warning messages since they do stand out.

The reflective material is an enclosed lens, retroreflective film. This material is often used with transparent inks to allow the reflective properties of the substrate to show through the ink. This material is appropriate for both indoor and outdoor use.

Reflective labels from Specialty Printing are:

    Extremely durable

    Weather proof, weather resistant

Permanent inks (no fading or bleeding)

    Permanent adhesion; pressure sensitive

Typical Applications for reflective decals include:

    Reflective hard hat decals

    Reflective equipment/automotive warning decals

    Reflective construction signage/labels

All reflective labels are customized to your exact specifications.

Durability is extremely important, when it comes to the labels and decals that are used for a variety of applications. In many cases, labels need to be weather proof or weather resistant in order to sustain a full range of temperatures, wind and rain that Mother Nature provides. Specialty Printing’s durable weather proof labels provide strong protection for harsh weather conditions and resist moisture, scuffing and tearing.

Typical Applications for weatherproof decals include:

    Equipment and automotive decals

    Hard hat decals

Outdoor dumpster and portable toilet decals

Truck signage and fleet vehicle decals

Situations where a robust, weatherproof label is required

All weather proof / weather resistant labels are customized to your exact specifications. If you are uncertain of your exact needs, Specialty Printing will assess your needs to determine the appropriate label solution for you.

Other materials are available. Based on your application needs, Specialty Printing will work with you to determine the appropriate label material.
